My journey in short-stay rental started with a practical need. My girlfriend is Filipino and we travel regularly to visit her family, a journey of more than 24 hours. To catch our breath before the final leg, we started looking for an apartment in Iloilo City, a growing city with an international airport.
What started as a practical solution grew into something more. I've had two apartments on Airbnb in Iloilo City for several years now, both in the top 5 for highest revenue in their category.
Alongside my own listings, I've helped friends and family successfully launch their holiday rentals. A recent example: a friend achieved 30.3% more nightly revenue in the first four months under my guidance.
My transition to entrepreneurship is driven by a combination of proven expertise, external demand and a concrete turning point: the end of my employment. That moment gave me the space to turn my knowledge and passion for short-stay rental into a full business.
